What Do I Do?
I love: listening to music, surfing the net, going to too many gigs, web design, reading, watching too much TV, shopping, going to the cinema/renting movies and just generally hanging out with my boyfriend and friends.
Obessions
I love movies... I tend to obsess over my favourites: Fight Club, Ghost World, Amelie, Talk To Her, Desperately Seeking Susan, The Breakfast Club, Donnie Darko, Dirty Pretty Things, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, American Beauty, Clerks, Mallrats, Grease, Chasing Amy, Girl, Interrupted, The Crow, Hedwig And The Angry Inch, Dangerous Minds, E.T., Beetlejuice, Never Been Kissed and Batteries Not Included. I tend to enjoy mostly horror, thriller and comedy films. My favourite actors include Thora Birch, Audrey Tautou, Kevin Spacey, Johnny Depp, Brandon Lee, Winona Ryder, Brad Pitt, Jason Mewes, Drew Barrymore, Steve Buscemi, Jason Lee and Al Pacino.
My favourite TV programmes include "Two Guys and a Girl", "That 70's Show", "Sabrina The Teenage Witch" ["Clarissa Explains It All" was better though], "Emmerdale" (yes really! :P) and the re-runs of "My So-Called Life". I'm really just a channel surfer, I'll watch whatever's decent on. But I have a loathing for so-called 'reality TV' shows such as Big Brother and Pop Idol... argh. I can't stand "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" or "Sex & The City" either - overrated trash if you ask me.
I'm a self confessed shopaholic, so I have several favourite shops: Mr Ben's, HMV, Topshop, H+M, the Barrowlands Market, Ebay.co.uk, A1 Comics, Camden Market in London, Missing, Schuh and Avalanche.
I like to read and some of my favourite books are "Ghost World" by Daniel Clowes, "The Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath, "The Fuck Up" by Arthur Nersessian, "Travels In A Strange State" + "The Wind In My Wheels" by Josie Dew, "A Child Called It" by Dave Peltzer, "An Underachiever's Diary" by Benjamin Anastas, "Generation X" by Douglas Coupland, "Backpack" by Emily Barr, "Phoenix Rising - Or How To Survive Your Life" by Cynthia Grant, "The Catcher In The Rye" by J.D. Salinger and "It Could Happen To You" by Isla Dewar. I also like some poetry by Edgar Allan Poe.
What Lies Ahead?
I have ambitions, I just don't know what they are yet. I'd love to travel the world and see places like Egypt, Italy, Cape Town, Greece, Tokyo, Canada, Mexico and India... but that'll need to wait.
I'm not really interested in having a 'career' as such. I'd hate to be stuck behind a desk in some 9-5 job every day. I'd rather do something I actually enjoy, but well, I think there's a severe lack of those kinda jobs going around. I enjoy web design, but I don't think I could do it as a job because I hate being limited and told what to do. I guess I'm looking for a vocation rather than just a job. I'd like to run my own business in the future, but doing what... I'm not too sure. But I'd rather work for myself than someone else.
At the moment I'm looking for a job to fund my music/gigs/clothes hobby... so I can't really be choosy.
In an ideal world, I'd possess musical talent and be in a great band. I wouldn't want to be famous though, that's not my idea of fun - I like my privacy. I'd prefer being a reclusive, secretive artist like Maynard James Keenan or Rivers Cuomo ;) Or, be in a kickass girlband like Sleater-Kinney or Bratmobile... aaah I can dream!
