[WHICH GODDESS ARE YOU?]

Twelve goddesses rule twelve astrological signs. Which one are you? Actually, you have all these goddess archetypes represented in your personality structure. However, one or two may be more predominant throughout your life. At any given time, astrological factors may bring another of these archetypes to the front stage. For example, you may spend most of your life as a loyal Juno or as a dedicated virgin Vesta, but unexpectedly the dark moon Lilith enters your life and you can be very witchy.
To begin with, try the goddess that corresponds to your astrological sun sign. Then, if you know your moon sign and rising sign, try the goddesses that go with these zodiacal signs. You may use the same approach with any daily newspaper horoscope. Reading the sign that corresponds to your horoscope rising sign is usually more accurate on a daily event basis than using your sun sign (the month you were born).

Many astrologers and horoscope services on the Internet and elsewhere will calculate your horoscope for you. The question of which planets rules which zodiacal signs has always been subject to argument. This system of assigning goddesses to rulerships of different zodiacal signs is also debatable. Other astrologers may have come up with different rulerships. There is much work to be done in this area before we will definitely know all the answers. For the time being, use what works.

If you have an identification with a particular goddess but it does not fall within the scheme for zodiacal signs presented here, do not worry. If you think you are Athena, for example, then you probably are Athena. A careful look at your horoscope might reveal that the asteroid Pallas Athena was on the midheaven of your horoscope or in some other key area of your chart. Get an astrologer to put the asteroids and the dark moon Lilith into your chart to get a feel for what goddess who might be.

Aries / Taurus / Gemini / Cancer / Leo / Virgo / July / Libra / Scorpio / Sagittarius / Capricorn / Aquarius / Pisces

Aries
Pallas Athena... businesswoman in a man's world.
Athena, Minerva in Latin, is daddy's girl. You adopted his values and are still trying to prove yourself to him. You can cut it in a man's world but using a woman's strategies and tactics. Feminists criticise you for selling out to the patriarchy but if they ever want to win a war they will come to you.

Taurus
Venus... goddess of love and beauty. Most admired by men.
Venus, mighty Aphrodite, you are of course told that men admire you for your character and the strength of your personality, but don't kid yourself. It's your looks, not your typing skills that got you the job. Venus, is of course, the only actual major planet in our male dominated cosmology, and she is included and named such because she is the object of affection and desire.

Gemini
Persephone... in over her head.
In myth she was kidnapped and raped by the god of the underworld, Pluto. In everyday life you prefer to be the helpless young thing who associates with older men, gangsters and congressmen. You relish being the victim, par excellence, and you control your dominant master as surely as he thinks he controls you. Except sometimes when you underestimate him. Then you go to the papers and expose him.

Cancer
Ceres... mother and nurturer.
The asteroid Ceres is the dominant planet in astrology. Known as Demeter in the Greek, you will raise your own kids and someone else's too. You are much more into your children than into your husband. You want to make sure that they grow up well cared for. Nurturing is your main agenda. You can grow plants and herbs like nobody else can.

Leo
Juno... perfect wife and perfectly jealous.
Juno, the archetype Hera in Greek, as described by Jean Bolen in her excellent book "Goddesses In Every Woman", is every king's idea of the perfect queen. You are Mrs. John D. Jones, not "Marge", and if truth be known, you would choose your husband over your kids. You cook for your husband, but you don't show your daughters how to cook lest you spoil hubby's meal. You assume that everybody knows who your husband is, and if they don't you will tell them.

Virgo
Vesta... the devoted spinster.
Vesta, called Hestia in Greek, is the Vestal Virgin. She doesn't really mind sex, she just doesn't want men hanging around the house and spoiling the perfect serenity she has created there. If you are a Vesta type, you need your time and your space to yourself. You appreciate peace and quiet and create a sort of sacred temple out of your room or house where you can think your mousey quiet thoughts.

Libra
Psyche... I'll go if you go with me.
You love being partners. At the same time you don't have much use for people who aren't up to your standards and are not a challenge. You like reciprocity. Time for time. Value for value. You love to command a man's attention, his full attention and don't like it if he is reading a book or listening to a record without your being in on it. You will go as far as he will go as long as you can be involved. You tend to like a good argument but you won't have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Scorpio
Lilith... seductress and spider woman.
You are not afraid to explore the dark shadows of your personality. Lilith is the Jewish name for archetype of Adam's first wife (before Eve) who left the garden because she could not get equal respect to Adam. You are both the hunter and the hunted. You have incredible personal magnetism and can be the femme fatale when it suits you. You are the spider woman who eats up men and spits them out.

Sagittarius
Isis... the single mother.
You want to have a child without the interfering presence of the father around. You will select a father who will most probably be absent from your home life. For example, a man who will go off to war and never return, or a married man whom it is impossible for you to marry. You will be the first woman to clone a child and you will be extremely ambitious for this child perhaps keeping it around the house until it is thirty.

Capricorn
Hecate... crone and Witch.
She is the nice grandmotherly person who occasionally shoves the children in the oven. But that definition of witch is mostly a bad rap from male chauvinist plutocrats and power-mongers. Crones essentially are immune to the charms of men, and they have been around long enough to see through most of the lines men use. As a consequence they are extremely dangerous to the patriarchy inasmuch as they fill impressionable young granddaughters heads full of superstitions, herbal lore and other anecdotal testimony which tends to make the girls smarter than the boys. Remember in Greek mythology it is Hecate who finally was enlisted by Ceres (Demeter) to visit the low places and negotiate with Pluto for Persephone's return. Hecate used her witchy powers as well as her experience of age to come up with the most favorable deal for her client.

Aquarius
Astarte (Ishtar)... star in her own right.
Tarot Card 17, The Star, picks up on your attributes as the goddess of the sky and somehow possessing a vision and a magnetism somewhat larger than four-square life and materialism as we know it. You are what happens when individual ego and selfishness is transcended and universal values and idealism comes into play. However, the down side of this is that you don't know who you are until somebody tells you. You are a sucker for flattery and are more or less a walking Gallop Poll as to what is in style and what is politically correct to think and do.

Pisces
Diana... moon wolf princess.
You are the hunter and the hunted. You operate on instinct and often find opportunity and trouble in places where no one else could imagine. Your feelings run deep and you wonder why no one else but you cries at movies. You are the dramatis persona, and know how to magnify a slight totally out of proportion, and at the same time convince the world that this is what is worthy of the busy world's attention.
