[MY SO-CALLED LIFE]
10/01/03
Oops... haven't updated this part since September... oh well :s
*Gigs I've been to recently: Rico, Gary Numan, The Kennedy Soundtrack, Taproot, Pitchshifter (again), Pathogen, Errata, Zillah, Evidence Of Trauma, Mendeed, Churn, Co-Exist (again), Senator, Eska, Fugazi, The Day I Snapped, TheSTART, Strung Out, Tsunami Bomb, Audio Karate, The Vandals, Pathogen (again), Primordial, Enthroned, Rotting Christ.
We ended up getting a guest pass to get into Gary Numan cos it was over 18's and we weren't 18 at the time. Score! It did take ages of arguing with the bouncers and talking to roadies, random people and Gary Numan's band to work though... still, it was worth it... brilliant night! But Glasgow QMU sucks.
Met Taproot and Pitchshifter at their signing in Fopp, then Pitchshifter again before the gig. Such cool guys :D Fugazi was another great gig but I didn't enjoy either of the support bands. Went to Strung Out to see theSTART who were supporting, and met none other than Tairrie B's sister - Aimee Echo! She was so nice, they played a great set, 'Shakedown!' was brilliant. Went to see The Vandals who were very entertaining and I got rather drunk. Tsunami Bomb supported and they were pretty cool, I liked them a lot. The other night I was at the Cathouse to see Rotting Christ et al. None of the support acts really impressed me, Primordial were pretty crap and Enthroned were a bit samey, yet funny to watch cos they were so over-the-top. Rotting Christ were good though.
*Was in London for a couple of days with my boyfriend. Was originally supposed to be going to see Cradle Of Filth (my birthday present from him) but they cancelled so it basically turned into a shopping trip. Yas! And shop I did. Mostly other people's xmas pressies though, although I did get myself a v. cool pair of sunglasses! Went to see 'Phantom Of The Opera' and 'Sleuth' while there. Spent loads of time in Camden Town drooling over shoes and Hello Kitty stuff. Wish I was there... [with more cash this time :P]
*My birthday was excellent, I got loadsa cool stuff... a record player [vinyl is so NOW! heh], CDs, vinyl, lots of pink stuff, clothes, my Swear boots and money :D
*Christmas was pretty good, I finally got a new super-duper PC which rules. Got plenty of nice stuff :) Everyone seemed to have a fine time.
*Other than that I've just been going to college and getting on with stuff. Seen some excellent movies recently, 'Donnie Darko' is now one of my favourites, 'Bowling For Columbine' and 'Dirty Pretty Things' are really good too. I recommend you watch them :)

Finally got around to updating... :)
I think from now on I'm gonna just do a summary of things happening in my life, cos it's easier that way hehe :P Let's see...
* Had a nice + relaxing 2 week holiday in Majorca, where I experienced the Euro [not at all keen on it; prices have risen quite considerably], extreme thunder and lightning with monsoon-type rain [so heavy our bedroom got flooded, luckily it happened on the day we were due to leave!] and eating out every night [Nico's Grill -tex mex- is still my favourite restaurant in the whole world :D]. Not to mention getting sunburnt for the first time, spending the bulk of my money in the first week and getting lost in the city of Palma [on foot this time!]. Nonetheless, I enjoyed myself :)
* Went to see Co-Exist, Mywar, Labrat and Eyehategod at King Tut's, Co-Exist were in my opinion the best band of the night!
* Went to Gig On The Green in Glasgow and saw the likes of Biffy Clyro, Raar, Amen, Flogging Molly, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Slipknot, NOFX, The Offspring and The Prodigy. Best bands of the day were definitely Amen and NOFX, and Flogging Molly and The Offspring were entertaining :) I also met Dexter Holland [of The Offspring] and got my picture taken with him! woo :D Worst bands were The Dillinger Escape Plan and Slipknot. I didn't expect anything remotely good anyway... they're both truly horrendous.
* I started an HNC in Information Technology at Reid Kerr college in Paisley, but then found a better course, so I'm now at Stow college in Glasgow doing an HNC in E-Commerce, and it's pretty good so far! Much easier to get to and my some of my friends go there so yay :) Soooo much better than school too! I'm in 3 days a week at the moment and have to get up at 6:10am every day to get the bus at 7:25am to Glasgow... eek! I really hate early mornings, but oh well...
* Got lots of gigs lined up for the next few months, I'm particularly looking forward to Pitchshifter, The Vandals and Gary Numan :) Off to see Broken Oath and some other bands this Thursday.

So, whaddya think of the new design? Let me know!
Anyway... what's been happening in my life...
*Went to see Bad Religion and Pitchshifter - met J.S. Clayden and Mark Clayden from Pitchshifter + Jay Bentley and Brian Baker from Bad Religion - yay! Also met Gordon, one of my online friends.
*Went to see Rammstein with American Head Charge and Raging Speedhorn supporting. Rammstein were good but AHC weren't, Raging Speedhorn's performance was disappointing. Still a good gig though! Also met Gordon again and another online friend, Darren.
*Had my one and only exam, higher geography, not sure how it went but i'm hoping...
*Officially left school, handed in my leavers form. I never have to go back! :D
*Went to see Raging Speedhorn at the Cathouse, they put on a better performance than at Rammstein - another good gig :)
*Gave into the hype and went to see 'Spiderman', which I thought was pretty good, if not a bit cheesy! Special effects were amazing though.
*Went for a career's interview to discuss my options. I'm currently looking for a job.
At the moment I'm just trying to chillout for a few weeks before I go on holiday to Majorca... and enjoy the non-existant summer we're having right now! I've forgotton what the sun looks like... I think all the rain has melted it :(

Just a quick note to say I no longer use the email address jackie.currie@telinco.co.uk and haven't done for several months now, so if you've emailed me at that address and not received a reply you'll know why! My main email address is now alcoholocaustic@hotmail.com.

Has been a while since I updated this, but I guess it's better late than never!
Went to see Nebula and support band El Caco [meaning 'the thief'] at the Cathouse. El Caco weren't that bad, and after they played we met the band and they signed our tickets and we even got them to sign my left arm! Nebula were pretty good from what I remember :-)
The Easter holidays have been and gone... I've mostly just been hanging out with friends, spending money I don't have and going to gigs. Went to see E.T. at the cinema the other day, I'd forgotten just how much I love that film! It was even better with the extra scenes, such as E.T. in the bath - hilarious! He's so cute! :-D
Finally got to see System Of A Down at the Barrowlands last Saturday, a much anticipated gig as we've had the tickets since October! And they didn't disappoint either! I didn't like the support band The Dillinger Escape Plan, their music was awful and they weren't very nice to the crowd, I've yet to meet someone who did like them. However System soon made up for that! They opened with Prison Song (amazing live!) and played classics such as 'War?' and 'Sugar', as well as recent hits 'Chop Suey!' and 'Toxicity'. They also played 'Suggestions' (a personal fave), 'Bounce', 'Aerials', 'ATWA', 'Fuck The System', 'Peephole' , 'X', 'Jet Pilot', 'Know', 'Science', 'Suite-Pee', 'Psycho', 'Spiders' (I love that song), 'Needles' and 'Deer Dance'. A brilliant setlist, although I was disappointed they didn't play 'Shimmy'! Didn't matter too much, their performance was outstanding anyway!
Another night, another gig, last night I saw Sugarcoma at the Cathouse. I'd already seen them support Machine Head in December and wasn't too impressed, but I went along anyway, and they weren't actually that bad. Bonus point was we met the band (who are all the same height as me!), and they signed our tickets before the gig. INME supported, they sounded kinda like Hoobastank or something and weren't very entertaining. Sugarcoma eventually got on stage at 8:45pm and played 'What Goes Round', recent single 'Crazy' (a Britney Spears cover) among others, but left the stage early at 9:30pm as Jess's voice had went. I managed to get one of their towels from the stage and their sign saying who was playing, and my friend Oz got the setlist. Then we were the last ones in the queue to leave so we chatted with the drummer (James) for a bit (who was also the same height as me... odd) and he signed our stuff, and in true gig tradition signed my left arm ;-) The whole band were actually very down-to-earth and were only too happy so meet fans and sign stuff, which is cool for a band who have toured with such bigger bands than themselves (My Ruin, Fear Factory and Machine Head, to name but a few).
Next gigs so far aren't until May... Bad Religion first and then Rammstein. I was looking forward to seeing KMFDM support Rammstein but they pulled out. However they promised to tour here mid July, so I might still get to see them!
Back to school tomorrow... :-( *cries* It's so unfair how holidays fly in so quickly, especially when you've been having a good time! Not long until the exams start, although I only have one and that isn't until the 5th of June, so plenty time to study yet :-)
